Ann was born in Fargo, North Dakota, but raised mostly in Knoxville, Tennessee. She went to undergrad at Vanderbilt University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BA in Molecular & Cellular Biology and three minors in Chemistry, General Music, and Chinese Language & Culture. She headed to San Antonio, Texas, for medical school, where she enjoyed mentoring younger students through a program called Veritas, going to Ethiopia for two consecutive summers to provide healthcare and public health education, volunteering regularly at the Student Run Free Clinics, and singing in her medical school acapella group called Egophony. Her medical interests include primary care, underserved populations, medical education, and global health. Hobbies include playing piano and guitar, trying new restaurants and writing reviews for her newly acquired Yelp Elite status, and Body Pump (an aerobics weight lifting class). Brown stood out to Ann on the interview trail because of the authenticity, warmth, and kindness of the faculty and residents, coupled with its academically rigorous learning environment.
