Carly Schmidt, MD
Undergraduate: University of Michigan
Medical School: Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine
Carly grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan (yes, this is a real city) where she met her future husband over drinks (read: juice boxes) in the first grade. After high school, she moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan for college where she studied Neuroscience and spent a semester abroad in Australia. Before moving to Cleveland for medical school, she spent time learning a few completely unrelated non-medical skills including working as a construction manager for Appalachia Service Project in West Virginia, and as a cupcake/cookie decorator and server at a cupcake cafe. She has always wanted to be a pediatrician and could not be more excited to be pursuing that dream at Hasbro Children’s alongside that grade-school sweetheart turned husband (a Brown Emergency Medicine resident!) Carly chose Brown Pediatrics because of the incredible clinical opportunities, the sense of community, and the focus placed on resident wellness and happiness. In her spare time she loves to explore new restaurants, bake and decorate cupcakes, and spend time outdoors. Having escaped the Midwest, she is looking forward to exploring Providence and living so close to the ocean!
