Cristina Alcorta, MD (she/her)

Position: Chief Resident

Undergraduate: Harvard University
Medical School: Dartmouth Geisel School of Medicine

Cristina grew up in northern New Jersey, just along the Hudson River. She moved to Cambridge, MA for college and majored in Human Evolutionary Biology at Harvard. Finding it difficult to leave the Boston area, she decided to complete a year of research in the Neonatal Pulmonary Medicine Department at Boston Children’s Hospital before heading even further north to Dartmouth for medical school. At Dartmouth, Cristina was heavily involved in advocacy groups for the Upper Valley and its surrounding areas, including Geisel’s Urban Health Scholars and The Albert Schweitzer Fellowship.  She was drawn to Brown for the quality of resident training, commitment to diversity, and the loving, warm, collaborative culture of Hasbro Children’s Hospital. Here, children hold the primary focus; the entire environment is catered to their enjoyment and well-being.  She aspires to become a pediatric intensivist when she grows up.
Outside of the hospital, Cristina enjoys dancing, yoga, all things nature, getting lost in art museums and finding the best paths to longboard skateboard. She thoroughly enjoys the thrill of being a Yankees fan living in New England (and has surprisingly survived after 14 whole years).
