Daniel Alanko, MD (he/him)
Undergraduate: Hofstra University
Medical School: Hofstra University
Daniel was born and raised in the suburbs of New York City. He attended college at Hofstra University as part of their combined BS/MD program. A camp counselor for many years, he always knew he wanted to work with children. During his undergraduate years he studied physics and mathematics, played rugby, and volunteered at the Hofstra observatory. In medical school, he researched childhood obesity at Cohen Children’s Medical Center and was a team captain for Swim Across America, a long-distance charity swim which funds cancer research. He enjoys exploring his interest in medical education and plans to pursue a career where he can combine caring for children with teaching and curriculum development. Daniel is excited to continue his training at Brown because of the supportive community, the diverse emergency and subspecialty care that Hasbro offers, and the chance to prove wrong everyone who said he’d never leave Long Island. He can’t wait to explore all there is to do, see, and most importantly eat in Providence. In his free time, he enjoys hiking and camping, playing video games, skiing, and playing with the imaginary dog he wishes he had (it’s a golden retriever).
