Joy Piotrowski, MD
Undergraduate: Dartmouth College
Medical School: University of Hawaii – John A. Burns School of Medicine (GHHS)
Joy was born in Taipei, Taiwan but moved to Hawaii as a baby, and spent most of her childhood out in the sun playing as many sports as possible, hiking, and enjoying the beach. She braved the wilds of New Hampshire to attend Dartmouth College and was a horizontal jumper on the track and field team. Joy became an English major, and was lucky enough to spend a term studying literature at the University of Glasgow and traveling throughout Europe. Knowing she wanted to become a pediatrician, Joy also worked at the Geisel School of Medicine and the child care center during her time in Hanover. She then ventured back to Taiwan to teach English and preschool in order to spend time with kids in a non-hospital setting before medical school, and ate as much Asian street food as possible while there. Although returning home for medical school was amazing, Joy is thrilled to be moving back to the East Coast to join the Hasbro family. She chose Brown because of the friendly community of the program, the excellence in clinical training, and the fantastic educational opportunities working with stellar faculty and a diverse patient population. Joy is excited to experience the four seasons again while hiking, running, biking, and adventuring outdoors, can’t wait to go quahogging, and is working on a plan of attack to try all the fantastic restaurants Providence has to offer!
