Laura Chaviano Chong, MD (she/her)
Undergraduate: University of Miami
Medical School: New York Medical College
Laura was born and raised in Santa Clara, Cuba. After attending high school in Miami, she stayed home where she graduated from the University of Miami. In college she studied Microbiology and Spanish Literature. Before moving to Valhalla, New York for medical school, she spent a year working as an administrative assistant and tutor, meanwhile saving up just enough money to travel to Torres del Payne, in the Chilean Patagonia. After completing her rotation in pediatrics at New York Medical College, becoming a pediatrician was just the natural thing to do as she loved working with children and helping parents. One of her interests in medicine is preventive care. The pediatric residency program at Brown and the city of Providence felt like home from the moment she entered the hospital. Brown felt like the right place for her, with lots of diversity and a supportive and nurturing environment. Laura enjoys attending concerts, listening to music, spending time with her family, and learning about different cultures and languages through all forms of arts and cuisine.
