Nadya was born and raised in Carolina, Puerto Rico. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Puerto Rico with a bachelor’s degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology. Since undergraduate, she has been involved in several clinical research projects that helped her discover her interest in pediatrics. She went to medical school at the University of Puerto Rico where she further developed her passion for this field with academic work such as: research and tutorship experience combined with leadership in several student organizations. Included in these was the Student Pediatric Association and the American Association of Pediatrics, chapter of Puerto Rico. She is a student who enjoys working with medical education as well as community service in general, which contributed to her induction into Alpha Omega Alpha Society in her junior year. She decided that Brown was her best option for residency training due to the diversity of patients that she would be able to work with, as well as other opportunities that the program offers. The welcoming warmth that she felt when she first met the residents made the decision only easier. Her interests in the field include critical care medicine, hospitalist and global healthcare/medicine. She enjoys binge-watching series on Netflix and predicting which movies will be nominated for the awards season of the year. If there’s no Wi-Fi you’ll find her reading books from her favorite author, Neil Gaiman.
