Phillip Sojka, MD (he/him)

Position: PGY-5

Undergrad: Indiana University
Medical School: Indiana University (GHHS)

Originally from West Lafayette, Indiana, Phil completed his undergraduate degree from Indiana University, where he studied Psychology and Chemistry. During his time there he worked as a psychiatric technician at a local mental health hospital, which ignited his interest in pursuing medicine and specifically psychiatry. Between undergraduate and medical school Phil spent a year with the Americorps project City Year in Boston, working with underserved youth as a mentor and tutor to help kids get back on track to graduate. During medical school Phil was selected for the Gold Humanism Honor Society. He also volunteered his time as the director of quality improvement for the Indiana University Student Outreach Clinic and founded a peer to peer support training session for medical students. His main career aspiration currently is adolescents with substance use/mental health dual diagnosis, and is excited to see how triple board residency will prepare him to best care for those children. Beyond medicine, Phil is an avid runner and cyclist, exploring the outdoors and reading realistic fiction. Most importantly, he closely follows NCAA college basketball, forever hoping his alma mater will win its 6th national championship. Go Hoosiers!
