Sarah Harney, MD
Undergraduate: Middlebury College
Medical School: Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons
Sarah grew up in Newton, MA and studied music and psychology as an undergrad at Middlebury College in Vermont. She then worked as a clinical research assistant studying pediatric liver disease before beginning medical school at Columbia University. As a member of the Columbia-Bassett program, she moved to “America’s most perfect village” (Cooperstown, NY) for her entire 3rd year of medical school, where she participated in a unique longitudinal integrated clinical curriculum with intensive training in quality improvement. She was drawn to Brown’s pediatric residency program for its focus on humanism in the context of rigorous clinical training. She is especially impressed by the institution’s commitment to diversity, community service, and advocacy. She is interested in pediatric oncology, medical education, and social determinants of health. Outside the hospital, she enjoys spending time outdoors in all four glorious seasons, playing cello, singing with friends, learning Spanish, and hosting dinner parties.
