Taka Yamaguchi, MD
Undergraduate: Washington University in St. Louis
Medical School: University of Illinois at Chicago
Taka was born in Tokyo, Japan and grew up in Massachusetts, where he grew fond of pond swimming in the summer and backcountry skiing in the winter. Setting out from New England, he attended college at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, majoring in International and Area Studies. After graduation, he spent one year in the Middle East, working at a local health development organization in Ramallah, Palestine. Missing the wide open skies and endless corn fields, he returned to the Midwest for medical school at the University of Illinois at Chicago. There, he realized a passion for primary care pediatrics, nutrition and food security, and refugee and immigrant health. Taka is excited for his return back east, and was drawn to Brown because of the fun and compassionate people, the supportive environment, and the diverse, compact, and connected community it serves. On a day off, you can find him seeking solace in nature, cooking something soulful and yummy, and playing his violin or mandolin.
