Vanessa Ogueri, MD
Undergraduate: Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education
Medical School: New York Medical College
Vanessa was born and raised in Queens, New York and attended the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, a combined BS/MD program dedicated to training physicians with a strong interest in primary care medicine, especially in underserved populations. Here she served as her SNMA chapter’s Treasure and President where she worked on community health and mentorship programs for the people of the Harlem community. Her passion lies in mentorship- something she hopes to continue during her time in Providence. She completed her clinical years at New York Medical College. During medical school she received The NMA Emerging Scholar’s award, which recognizes students for their academic successes, leadership, and potential for contributions to medicine. In addition to practicing as a Pediatrician, Vanessa plans to combine her interest in mentorship, advocacy and global health to formulate a non-profit dedicated to providing access to quality education, mentorship, and cultural immersion for inner-city children. She was drawn to Brown for the quality of its clinical training, global health opportunities, and the thoughtful, open-minded, and down-to- earth nature of its residents. In her free time, Vanessa enjoys running, sports, traveling, and discovering new and exciting forms of exercise (SoulCylce, Capoeira, and Boxing to name a few!). Most of all Vanessa loves to eat and is looking forward to exploring the amazing culinary options Providence has to offer.
